The Plight of Homeless Animals

Home » Plight of Homeless Animals

The numbers are staggering. Across the country, 6.3 million dogs and cats enter shelters each year. Tragically, 1.5 million are euthanized – never having the chance to be adopted. Although the pandemic caused a rise in adoptions, some shelters are now being overwhelmed with surrendered or abandoned animals as owners either returned to work or were unable to care for their pet.* Imagine being that dedicated and loyal pet who found a home – only to be returned to a shelter.

Sadly, older pets are less likely to be adopted. Older dogs have a 25% adoption rate compared to a 60% adoption rate for younger dogs. The same is true for cats – 40% of  adopted cats are less than one year old.

At Animal Attraction Events we believe our efforts can have an impact and begin to turn around these unacceptable statistics. Won’t you join us?
